GOT GHOSTS? OLDE TOWNE PORTSMOUTH DOES!!


On Friday, October 26th, 2007, the ghosts of old will come alive to taunt the imagination and challenge the boundaries of reality. Based on the Jack-the-Ripper Walks in London, participants in the 27th annual Olde Towne GhostWalk will be treated to some of the most haunting stories of Portsmouth’s past. During a guided walking tour, costumed re-enactors tell the tales of the infamous ghosts and haunted houses of Olde Towne Portsmouth, a 20-square block area on the National Register of Historic Places.
DATE: October 26, 2007- One Night Only!
TIME: 7 PM – 10:30 PM Tickets are sold for 3 time slots: 7pm, 8pm, 9pm
Groups will leave at five minute intervals from Trinity Church graveyard.
DURATION: The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, ending at Middle Street Park where hot cider will be served, there will be entertainment, and the opportunity to purchase T-shirts, Ghost Books, posters, etc.
LOCATION: Tours begin in the graveyard of Trinity Episcopal Church, corner of Court and High Streets in Olde Towne.
PARKING: Free parking in municipal parking garages located on County and High Street and on Middle Street. Limited on-street parking in Olde Towne.
TICKETS: Tickets go on sale October 1st and are $10 per person. Children carried or in strollers are free. Cash or checks payable to Olde Towne Civic League, are accepted at all advance ticket locations. Credit cards accepted only at the North Street Landing Visitors Center in Portsmouth.
Advance purchase is recommended. Tickets are available on day of event, but it is generally a sell-out early that day. See Advanced Ticket Locations information sheet.
ATTIRE: Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
THE TOUR: Guides take spectators on a walk past haunted houses and mansions of Olde Towne, a 20-square block, 500 building area on the National Register of Historic Places.
At each house on the tour, actors in appropriate costume will retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night. Cameras are welcome. Houses are private properties and not open to the public.
